Coated multi-particulates offer many advantages in regards to targeted drug delivery over immediate release and other conventional types of controlled release systems in that they can be used to delay, prolong, or pulse drug release to specific sites along the intestinal track through the action of  reverse enteric, enteric, and colonic delivery systems.
