Announcement: STEP Database Updated – 29 Excipients now!

The STEP stands for Safety and Toxicity of Excipients for Paediatrics. The Safety and Toxicity of Excipients for Paediatrics (STEP) Database is a user-designed resource developed by European Paediatric Formulation Initiative (EuPFI) and United States Paediatric Formulation Initiative (USPFI) in collaboration for storage and rapid/effortless access to the safety and toxicological data of excipients that is scattered over various sources and presents it in one freely accessible source. It is a unique database that combines clinical, non-clinical data, invitro data of excipients and allows for easy searching and filtering of the data as per user’s need.

Alcohol, Aspartame, Benzalkonium Chloride, Benzoic acid, Benzyl alcohol, Cyclodextrin (Alpha, Beta, Gamma), Lactose, Mannitol, Parabens (butyl, propyl, methyl, ethy), Polysorbate (80, 20, 40, 60, 65), Propylene glycol, Polyethylene glycol, Saccharin, Sodium benzoate, Sodium metabisulphite, Sorbitol, Sucralose, Sorbic acid, Vitamin E TPGS, Xylitol

It holds (1) General Information, (2) Clinical Data, (3) Non-Clinical Data, (4) In Vitro Data, (5) Regulatory References and (6) Reviews in relation to the safety and toxicity of excipients.
