Ashland announces global price increase for vinyl pyrrolidone- and cellulosic-based pharmaceutical excipient products

WILMINGTON, Del. – Ashland Specialty Ingredients, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH), is increasing the price of its portfolio of Aqualon™ ethylcellulose and sodium carboxymethylcellulose, Aquarius™ film coating systems, Blanose™ sodium carboxymethylcellulose, Benecel™ methylcellulose and hypromellose, Klucel™ hydroxypropylcellulose, Plasdone™ povidone and copovidone, and Polyplasdone™ crospovidone from 4 to 5 percent globally (depending on the specific product and grade) effective October 15, 2014, or as contracts allow.

This increase is in response to inflationary pressures on key manufacturing inputs and increasingly stringent regulatory requirements and is necessary to allow Ashland to continue to invest in new capacity and technology and to provide innovative products and quality, regulatory and logistics support that add value for customers.
